About the injection molding technology
About 35% of all polymer products are made by injection molding: from tables and chairs, consumer electronics housings, disposable tableware, to toys including LEGO and buttons.
Injection molding is one of the most common and efficient methods of processing polymer materials in modern industry. This technology allows the production of parts with complex geometry with high accuracy and repeatability, ensuring excellent surface quality without the need for additional finishing.
The process consists of melting the polymer material and injecting it under high pressure into a mold, where it cools and solidifies, taking the shape of the mold cavity. Due to process automation, high productivity is achieved — modern machines can produce from several hundred to thousands of parts per day.
Because of the high productivity of automatic machines and the high cost of molds for such machines, injection molding is mainly used for large- and mass-production of plastic products. However, there is significant demand for small-batch production, especially at the stage of new product development, for small businesses, or for specialized components.
